Pinson Councilman John Churchwell announced today that he intends to run for re-election to the Pinson City Council in the Aug
. 28 municipal election.
Churchwell will be running for Place 4 on the council, which is the position he currently holds.
“I think that the council has done a good job these last four years and we’ve still got some major projects that we’re dealing with that I would like to see completed,” he said. “The major project that I’m talking about right now is the Pinson Recreational Park that we’re working on.”
Churchwell said that there are several other projects the city is working on, as well.
“I think that if the recession sort of goes away or the economy improves, that we would be able to do more than what we’ve done in the past,” he said. “That is relating to more businesses and things like that in the city that we’re hoping to accomplish during these next four years.”
Churchwell has served on the Pinson City Council for over eight years and is the Chairperson of the Annexation Committee.
“We try to get other businesses and individuals that are not in the city to be annexed in and become part of the city,” he said.
Pinson citizens will be able to vote at Pinson United Methodist Church.
