The Tuscaloosa News is reporting that a gunman entered the popular Copper Top bar in downtown Tuscaloosa and opened fire early Tuesday morning, injuring at least 16 people, 4 were critically wounded. No fatalities were reported.
According to the article, police believe the incident may have started in Northport before moving to the bar which is located on the corner of Fourth Street and 23rd Avenue in downtown’s entertainment district. Police have not apprehended the suspect and asked for help from the public via Twitter. The TPD alert to the violence and request for information was tweeted at about 1:30 a.m.
By 2:oo a.m., the downtown area was placed on lockdown as was DCH Regional Medical Center where the injured were taken for medical attention. Tuscaloosa police officials have scheduled a press conference for 10 a.m. today
