The Tribune is pleased to introduce Stephanie Parker and her fabulous Plain Chicken Blog to our readers. Her recipes have been a hit around our offices for a long time and we’re sure they will be a hit with your family.
Stephanie grew up in Auburn, Alabama and graduated from Auburn High School and Auburn University. On her website, Stephanie says, “My day job is as the Controller at a telecommunications company in Birmingham, AL (a.k.a The Ham), but my passion is cooking and baking. I met my husband (Tadd) in college at Auburn University. He was my downstairs neighbor our Freshman year. We’ve been married for over 15 blissful years.”
“I started this blog as a way to keep track of my recipes and to be able to share them with my friends,” Stephanie said. “This blog is a reflection of what goes on everyday in our kitchen. Tadd (a.k.a Chicken Legs) is the official taste tester – he does a great job! Our motto in the kitchen is ‘I cook, he cleans'”.
Today, we’re highlighting the St. Louis Style Pizza. “I am always on the hunt for pizza perfection. For me, this recipe might be it
. This was the first time that I tried St. Louis Style Pizza, and it was fabulous! We both love thin crust pizza and this pizza is cracker thin. What makes St. Louis style pizza unique is the cheese,” Stephanie said. “It uses Provel cheese instead of mozzarella. Provel isn’t common in Alabama, so I used a facsimile of white cheddar, swiss, provolone and liquid smoke. I was hesitant to try it, but I am so glad I did. It was SO, SO good!! It really makes the pizza. I’ve made this pizza numerous times in the last few weeks. We just can’t get enough of it! It is our favorite pizza – anywhere.” Check out the recipe here
