Pinson youth arrested for burglary

Authorities arrested a 17-year-old Pinson boy after he allegedly confessed to his mother that he broke in to their neighbor’s home.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jack Self said the arrest was made Wednesday, as law enforcement arrested the young man while he was asleep in his own bed.

The incident occurred on Oct.9, at a home in the 4400 block of South Drive in Pinson. Authorities say that couple reported a break in of their home, where a television was stolen.

When the young man was questioned by his mother about the break in at their neighbor’s home, the young man allegedly admitted to his mother that he committed the crime. Police found the television in the trunk of the young man’s car, and called deputies.

Police say the boy was asleep in his bed when authorities arived to the home. He was arrested in his bedroom.

“The kid was still asleep,” said. Self. “He was amazed that his mom had called in the report.”

The young man, whose name wasn’t released because of his age, was charged with third-degree burglary.
