A 15-year-old black male was arrested Saturday night in a shooting incident that was witnessed by an off duty Jefferson County deputy who was working security for the theater.
According to Trussville Police Chief Don Sivley, at about 9:15 p.m., the deputy saw the teenager fire a shot at a vehicle as it was leaving the parking lot of the Regal 16 Cinemas at Trussville Crossings. The deputy pursued the suspect and made the arrest. There were no injuries reported in the shooting incident.
Sivley said police presence has been increased at the theater since the recent violence in other parts of the country, but local problems have actually seen a significant decrease. Trussville enacted a stringent teen curfew law to curtail past problems at the theater.
“It’s an isolated incident,” Sivley said
. “In the last year, conditions at the theater have greatly improved.”
