The 4th Annual TASTE, Trussville’s Art Show and Tasting Event, was held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Trussville Civic Center.
This year’s event was a success, drawing a crowd of 250 people to the multi-faceted event. New this year was a $250 “Crowd Favorite Award,” which was presented to woodworking artist Ben Smith
Previous TASTE events have drawn the best culinary and artistic talent the area has to offer. This year’s event featured food samples from 15 area restaurants, a regional art show with quality art available for purchase from 13 artists, live entertainment by Mark Dunn, and a cash bar.
Participating restaurants included: Chocolate Biscuit, The Farmhouse, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Great American Grill (Hilton Garden Inn’s restaurant), Jim ‘n Nick’s Bar-B-Q, Lulu’s Chicago Style Eatery, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Red Lobster, Red Robin, Sherry’s Café, Southern Diner, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café, Trio’s, Who Doesn’t Like Cake? and Zaxby’s.
Art was available for purchase in several different categories including watercolor, oil/acrylic painting, mixed media, photography, woodworking, and more. Artists included in the art show were John Shadrick , who was also art show chair, Ellen Justice, Calvin Macon, Laurie Nabors, Mary Lynne Robbins, Earl Scroggins, Carol Simon-Lane, Gloria Smith, Ben Smith, She She Vaughn, Linda Williford, Barry Wilson and the Cahawba Art Association.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will help to fund the chamber’s scholarship program
