Birmingham police are investigating the death of a Grayson Valley man as a homicide, The Birmingham News reported.
Sunday night, relatives found the vehicle belonging to David DeRoncey, 28, of Grayson Valley after searching for the man when he didn’t return home as scheduled, the report said.
DeRoncey was slumped over the steering wheel, his vehicle had come to a stop on the northbound lane of I-65 adjacent to the University Blvd. exit. Police say he had been shot.
The report said about 10 patrol vehicles were on the scene until 1 am Monday morning.
In a later report by Carol Robinson, the victim’s wife said the family was trying to come to grips with his death.
“David was loved by many,” his wife, Ashley Whitten DeRoncey told The Birmingham News. “I will never be able to understand how anyone could do this to such an amazing friend, brother, son, and husband. He was one of the most caring people anyone could’ve known. I love him and will always love him.”
DeRoncey was the manager at Game Stop on Green Springs Highway
