From staff reports
The Trussville Tribune Facebook page has surpassed 10,000 “Likes.”
The newspaper reached this social media milestone late Tuesday night. The page had roughly 1,200 “Likes” in November 2010.
“I think the continued growth of our Facebook page and our growing following on Twitter is indicative of how our readers get their news,” said Publisher Scott Buttram. “The interactivity between Tribune readers and the newspaper has always been unique in that our readers have a sense of ownership in their local newspaper, as they should. The Tribune really belongs to the communities that we cover and it is gratifying to see our readers so actively involved with our daily activity. They are the reason we exist.”
The Trussville Tribune posts multiple news stories daily that residents of Trussville, Clay, Pinson and surrounding areas want and need to know
. Facebook has been a great asset in delivering information to readers.
“A large part of my job is posting stories on www.trussvilletribune.com and linking them to Facebook to deliver news and generate discussion,” said The Trussville Tribune Editor Gary Lloyd. “It has proven to be the most effective way to deliver news in a timely fashion to our readers. I will continue to take advantage of this useful tool and interact with our readers.”
