By Gary Lloyd

Subway has opened a new location in Trussville.

The new sandwich shop, which opened Jan. 4, is located on Camp Coleman Road in Trussville. The restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Owners J.R. and Paula Curbow have lived in the area for 24 years. Paula Curbow was a teacher at Chalkville Elementary School for 13 years.

“We’re really excited about being in this area because this is home,” she said.

Dunkin’ Donuts opened on Highway 11 in Trussville last month. Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe on Highway 11 is expected to open in early March and Moe’s Original Bar B Que on Main Street in Trussville is expected to open in February.

Paul’s Hot Dogs & Grill will celebrate its 20th year in Trussville next Wednesday. Hot dogs were 99 cents there 20 years ago and will be Wednesday as a turn-back-the-clock day of sorts.

“I just want to thank the area for its participation and patronage,” said owner Paul LaRussa.
