The city of Clay is having a one-year tornado commemoration at Cosby Lake on Saturday.
The event will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The free event will feature a concert, speakers, hot dogs and cokes.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Paradise Valley and Georgebrook neighborhoods suffered severe damage during the Jan. 23, 2012, EF-3 tornado.
There was one fatality in the city, 16-year-old Christina Heichelbech, who lived in the Steeplechase neighborhood near Cosby Lake
.
According to the city of Clay’s Emergency Management Agency report, 98 structures were destroyed in the tornado. There were 241 with major damage, 194 with minor damage and 138 affected. There was also substantial damage at the Department of Youth Services Girls School on Old Springville Road.
