HTMS charity hoops game Feb. 19
By Gary Lloyd
The Hewitt-Trussville Middle School eighth annual charity basketball game is scheduled for Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school’s gymnasium.
The event includes basketball teams, cheerleaders, dance team, athletes from other sports, the band, choir and ambassadors.
This year’s charity is the National Brain Tumor Society, which is committed to finding better treatments and ultimately a cure for people living with a brain tumor and those who will be affected in the future.
Students who find a sponsor of the event will receive a T-shirt and be eligible for prizes. All donations are tax deductible and will be receipted by the school. Checks should be made to HTMS.
The sponsorship deadline is Feb. 1. T-shirts can be purchased for $10 by Feb. 1. That T-shirt is the pass to the game.
Past games have benefited Harry S. Truman Middle School, Susan B. Komen Fund, Big Oak Ranch, Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Amelia Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Middle school students have raised more than $36,000 for these causes.
