Clay-Chalkville linebacker Brandon Fuller and safety T.J. McCollum have faxed their signed papers in to UAB this morning, Fuller confirmed.
The two will join former Cougars D.J. Vinson, Darrin Reaves and Marcus Reaves on the UAB roster.
Fuller, a three-year starter, was third on the Clay-Chalkville defense with 58.5 tackles in 2012
. He led the Cougars with 9.5 tackles for loss and also notched 2.5 sacks. He also forced eight fumbles.
“He could do a lot of things for us,” said Clay-Chalkville head coach Jerry Hood. “He was tough against the run, could cover, made a lot of big plays.”
McCollum, a two-year starter, was fourth on the Clay-Chalkville defense with 55 tackles in 2012. He totaled five tackles for loss and half a sack. McCollum had one interception last season.
“Very physical kid,” Hood said. “I could see him being a secondary player but them playing him down a little bit at linebacker. I think he’s got a lot of versatility and won’t have to just be a safety, maybe.”
