A Pinson man has been charged with sexual abuse of a child and sodomy after authorities said he molested a young girl for two years.
Nicholas Carson McCloy, 30, was arrested Friday and has since been released from Jefferson County Jail after posting $90,000 bond, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
Christian said deputies responded in August 2012 to a Pinson residence to investigate a report of a sexual assault. The victim’s mother told deputies that her daughter had told her that day that she had suffered sexual abuse at the hands of McCloy, Christian said.
The victim told deputies that the abuse began when she was 12 years old and continued until she was 14, Christian said. The victim told deputies that she was afraid to tell anyone because the offender made threats against her and her mother if she didn’t keep it their secret, Christian said
.
The case was investigated and in January detectives presented the case to the grand jury through the District Attorney’s Office. The grand jury returned an indictment for sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and first-degree sodomy.
