The Hewitt-Trussville boys’ track and field team placed 13th and the girls 15th in the AHSAA State Championship Meet in Gulf Shores on Saturday.
Auburn won the boys’ Class 6A championship and Hoover won on the girls’ side of Class 6A.
Individually, Spencer Nezat took second in the shot put and committed to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette after the meet. Michael Snow, who placed 15th in the shot put, committed to Birmingham-Southern College.
Austin Norwood placed eighth in the boys’ 800-meter run, Ike Anwah took eighth in the 300-meter hurdles and Daniel Rush placed 10th in the 3,200-meter run.
On the girls’ side, Veronica Lyle finished in fourth place in the 800-meter run and fifth in the 1,600-meter run
. Alexandria Pidcock placed eighth in the 3,200-meter run, 19th in the 800-meter run and 12th in the 1,600-meter run.
From Pinson Valley, Zach Cunningham, a Vanderbilt football signee, placed fifth in the Class 5A high jump and 14th in the long jump.
