Hewitt-Trussville softball player commits to UWA

Hewitt-Trussville senior softball player Kristen Bittle has committed to play at the University of West Alabama.

Bittle also had offers from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn., Spring Hill College in Mobile and several junior colleges.

Bittle, projected to play third base or middle infield in college, plays third base and second base for Hewitt-Trussville.

Bittle last season batted .401 and led the Lady Huskies with 45 runs batted in. She hit two home runs and had 13 doubles.

Hewitt-Trussville posted a 39-12 record last season and finished one win shy of a final eight appearance at the state tournament. The Class 6A, Area 12 champions, ranked No. 6 in the state, were eliminated from the state playoffs by No. 8 Hueytown in a North Central Regional qualifier.
