The Trussville Tribune is sponsoring a food drive benefitting the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.
The food drive begins Thursday and runs through Nov. 21.
Any non-perishable donations will be accepted and anyone can donate. Drop-off locations for donations are at Total Care Pharmacy located at 115 N. Chalkville Road in Trussville — the former PNC Bank — and Trio’s Italian American Grill at 5880 Trussville Crossings Blvd. in Trussville.
The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, located in Birmingham, serves 12 counties in Alabama and distributes more than seven million pounds of food to its 220 partner agencies, who disperse to their clients and those in need.
The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama Development and Community Engagement Coordinator Brooke McKinley said that there are currently five partner agencies in the Trussville, Clay and Pinson area. These partners include Trussville Ecumenical Assistive Ministry, Argo Community Food Bank, Serving You Ministries, Bradford Sanctuary of Praise and Agape Baptist Church.
The Food Bank’s Weekenders Backpack Program, which provides healthy food options for children to take home for the weekend that may not otherwise have food, serves 24 students at Chalkville Elementary.
