Trussville woman writes book on Psalm 23
By Gary Lloyd
Though Psalm 23 is one of the most familiar chapters in the Bible, Renee’ Davis’ book “Hidden Treasures of the 23rd Psalm” explains how to apply the psalm to everyday life.
Her book resulted from a four-year study into the depth of the psalm.
“The book was not something I set out to do,” Davis said. “Without God giving me the words and scriptures, I could not have done it.”
Davis at first questioned why God led her to write the book when she describes herself as a housewife, mother and grandmother. But she then points out characters throughout the Bible who were given missions by God such as Rahab, David and Esther.
Davis takes each line of the psalm and backs up her interpretations with scriptures from the New Testament and Old Testament, and how it applies to her own life experiences.
Davis said her writing led her to look differently at the psalm, and she discovered that it holds the secret to “living a victorious Christian life.”
“I have seen God’s hand working in my life even in difficult times and it has made my faith stronger and deeper,” she said.
The book is available at The Spotted Zebra in Trussville, where on Saturday Davis will hold a book signing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
