HTMS teacher one of 23 for iCivics council

TRUSSVILLE — A Hewitt-Trussville Middle School teacher is one of 23 nationally selected for the new iCivics Teachers Council scheduled for the summer of 2014.

Leigh Stovall, a seventh-grade teacher, is the lone Alabama teacher selected for the council with Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. 

The first meeting will be in Washington, D.C. over the summer.

iCivics is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reinvigorating civic learning through interactive and engaging learning resources. The goal is for the organization’s educational resources empower teachers and prepare the next generation of students to become knowledgeable and engaged citizens.

iCivics was founded and is led by O’Connor.
