Hewitt-Trussville nominated in first hoops poll

TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville varsity boys basketball team was nominated for top 10 consideration in the first Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 6A poll of the season.

Hewitt-Trussville (9-2) travels to Gardendale on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. Class 6A, Area 12 game. The Huskies begin the Steel City Invitational next Thursday with a 7 p.m. game against Class 5A No. 1 Wenonah at the Pete Hanna Center at Samford University.

The Class 6A top 10, in order, includes Lee-Huntsville, Carver-Montgomery, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Blount, Mountain Brook, McGill-Toolen, Albertville, Tuscaloosa County, Minor and Jeff Davis.

Others nominated with Hewitt-Trussville include Bob Jones, Grissom, Hazel Green, Sparkman, Theodore and Woodlawn.
