GULF SHORES — The Hewitt-Trussville varsity girls basketball team was down 10 points with 2:45 remaining against Moss Point (Miss.) High School in the Gulf Shores Christmas Classic.
No problem.
The Lady Huskies (9-6) tied the game to force overtime, and went on to win 65-61. Hewitt-Trussville hit nine 3-pointers in the game.
Senior Morgan McLain had a career game, scoring a career-high 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Senior Elizabeth Brown also scored a career-high 17 points, 15 of which came on 3-pointers.
Junior point guard Cayla Dillard scored 11 points and handed out 10 assists. Senior Skylar Reaves scored six points and dished 10 assists. Senior Leigh McAnally scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Hewitt-Trussville hosts the New Year’s Shootout next week.
