Fox 6 is reporting that Richard Shahan, the former associate pastor at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham, was arrested on New Year’s Day at the Nashville airport by Homeland Security as he attempted to board a plane.
Previous media reports indicated that Shahan was planning a three year missionary trip to Germany.
According to ABC 33/40, Shahan was arrested in connection to murder of his wife Karen in their Homewood home in July.
Richard Shahan had been previously taken in for questioning and held for 24 hours before being released by the Homewood police.
Jefferson County has confirmed extradition of Shahan, who does have a court date coming up in Nashville on Jan. 7, according to the report.
