FULTONDALE — The Pinson Valley wrestling team owns Jefferson County.
The Indians on Saturday won the Jefferson County Championships for the third straight year.
Pinson Valley bested a field that included Clay-Chalkville, Center Point, Corner, Fultondale, Gardendale, Hueytown, McAdory, Minor, Mortimer Jordan, Oak Grove and Shades Valley.
First-place finishers for Pinson Valley included Hank Turner (138 pounds), Marco Mandujano (152 pounds), Brandon Adams (170 pounds), Jonathan Duke (195 pounds) and Barrett Crossley (220 pounds). Second-place finishers included Zach Kusiak (120 pounds) and Tate Brannan (126 pounds). Cameron Hamby took third place in the 108-pound division and Deon Gregory placed fourth in the 160-pound weight class.
“This is always a team goal to win and a chance to compete with some of the best competition in the area,” said Pinson Valley wrestling coach Gene Richardson. “We work extremely hard to finish without making excuses.”
