Saturday’s Pinewood Derby includes Trussville first responders

By Gary Lloyd

TRUSSVILLE — Who is the fastest?

You’ll find out Saturday.

Trussville Boy Scouts Pack 216’s Pinewood Derby on Saturday will include a first responders challenge.

The derby is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Trussville Civic Center. A Trussville Fire Department fireman and Trussville Police Department policeman will each race a pinewood car they made in a competition to determine “Trussville’s Fastest First Responder.”

The winner will receive a trophy that the department will keep for one year. Each year, the departments will compete for the same trophy.

In addition to the Pinewood Derby, both departments will set up emergency vehicles and a smokehouse for the Boy Scouts to tour.
