By Gary Lloyd
PINSON — Pinson City Councilman Joe Cochran has filed paperwork to run for the Alabama State Senate District 17 seat.
Cochran will run as a Republican.
The seat is being vacated by Scott Beason, who said last week that he would not seek re-election. Trussville businessman Shay Shelnutt is also running for the seat. Other Republican candidates for the seat include Jim Murphree, Gayle H. Gear, Brett King and Adam Ritch.
The district covers portions of Jefferson, Blount and St. Clair counties.
More to come as it’s available.
