Winter Storm Warning issued for Jefferson and St. Clair counties

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Jefferson and St. Clair counties from 9 p.m. Monday night until 12 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13.  Read the full weather statement from NWS below.

 

Winter Storm Warning URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL 230 PM CST MON FEB 10 2014 …MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF WINTER WEATHER LIKELY ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL ALABAMA TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT… .AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL APPROACH ALABAMA FROM THE WEST LATER TODAY. AT THE SAME TIME…NORTHERLY WINDS WILL PUSH COLDER AIR SOUTHWARD OVER ALABAMA. THE PRECIPITATION WILL START OUT AS LIGHT RAIN THIS EVENING…BUT WILL BECOME MIXED WITH SNOW… SLEET…AND FREEZING RAIN LATER TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.
