CLAY — Clay-Chalkville High School held a business luncheon for its business students earlier this week at NorthPark Baptist Church in Trussville.
The luncheon was held for students enrolled in business classes or are members of the Future Business Leaders of America.
The purpose of the event was to prepare students for the college and/or the business industry.
Several guest speakers discussed table etiquette, becoming financially prepared and expectations of the high school graduate. There was also a What to Wear vs. What Not to Wear to the Job Interview Fashion Show.
Helen Pullen, a former Clay-Chalkville High School consumer science teacher, discussed table etiquette. Melissa Reeves, a marketing representative, discussed saving and financial security. Carlos Hudson, a 2009 Clay-Chalkville High School graduate and University of Alabama graduate, discussed the expectations of the high school graduate from the student’s perspective. Chairman of Bryant Bank in Trussville and Trussville City Councilman Alan Taylor discussed expectations of the high school graduate from the employer’s perspective.
Suntay Byrd is the high school’s head of the Career Tech Department. Justin Haynie and Emily Baker also assisted in organizing the event.
