Deputies investigate burglary near Trussville

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a  burglary that occurred in unincorporated Jefferson County near Trussville.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Sgt. Jack Self said that at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday deputies responded to the 5400 block of Old Quarry Road off Service Road in Trussville to investigate a burglary in progress.

The victim told deputies that he had gotten up to go to the bathroom when there was an unknown man standing near the bathroom door, Self said. The man pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money, Self said.

Self said the victim gave him his wallet and the suspect fled the residence.

The investigation is ongoing.
