CLAY — A Clay-Chalkville High School senior wide receiver made his college commitment Monday night.
Cordell Scott committed to play at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky.
“It means a lot to play and I just wanted to get back in pads one more time,” Scott said. “It feels great to be a college athlete.”
As a senior last season in eight games played, Scott caught eight receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns. His touchdowns were for 14 yards against Lee-Huntsville and a four-yard score against Oxford.
“They’re going to get an explosive player, and I’m going to work hard at whatever position they put me at and I’m just a blessed guy,” Scott said. “I’m just ready to compete for a spot on the team when I go there and play, and I’m just an excited man right now.”
