PINSON — The Freestyle Connection BMX Stunt Team performed for students at Kermit Johnson Elementary School in Pinson on Friday morning.
Based out of Athens, Ga., BMX riders Jon Dowker, Russell Summerville and Rob Christianson performed for the nearly 800 students on the school’s outdoor basketball court.
The riders performed flatland tricks, and used a 5-foot box jump and 3-foot spine ramp to do backflips, tail whips, turndowns, bar spins and other tricks.
In the video below, Summerville uses the 5-foot box jump to soar over Kermit Johnson Elementary School physical education teacher Lee McDaniel.
The trio of riders also spoke to students about bicycle safety and healthy choices in life.
“It’s the real reason we are here,” Dowker said.
