BIRMINGHAM — Make-A-Wish Alabama has kicked off its inaugural “Wishes in Flight” campaign, which aims at educating the general public about Make-A-Wish and how people can donate unused air miles.
Annually, Make-A-Wish would need more than 2.5 billion miles, or 50,000 roundtrip tickets to cover every travel wish that is granted in the United States. In Alabama, more than 80 percent of wishes involve travel, which is higher than the national average of around 70 percent. Needed every year are 26.5 million miles to make all travel wishes come true in Alabama.
World Wish Day is Tuesday, April 29.
For every mile donated in Alabama, the national Make-A-Wish office will match, mile-for-mile, up to one million miles.
