Hewitt-Trussville remains No. 6 in baseball poll

TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville varsity baseball team remained No. 6 in Class 6A in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings.

The Huskies (24-7) sit behind, in order, Pelham, Thompson, Opelika, Hoover and Sparkman. The rest of the top 10 includes Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, Buckhorn and Spain Park.

Mountain Brook came in at No. 11 and Vestavia Hills No. 13. Hewitt-Trussville will host one of those teams next week in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

The Pinson Valley baseball team was the second team listed in the “others nominated” category in Class 5A, making the Indians No. 12.

The Hewitt-Trussville softball team was not listed for top 10 consideration in Class 6A this week, after spending two consecutive weeks at No. 12.
