CLAY — Clay-Chalkville High School has named its next varsity girls basketball coach.
Justin Haynie takes over for Courtney Payne, who resigned earlier this month after one season.
Haynie has been the team’s assistant coach the last three seasons. Before that, he coached the Clay-Chalkville varsity boys two years, the junior varsity one year and the freshman boys one year.
“I am really excited and proud to be coaching the girls next year,” Haynie said.
Haynie said he’s learned a lot from Payne and Todd Carlile, the two coaches he’s served under.
“They have both done a great job and I hope to be able to continue that level of success,” Haynie said.
Clay-Chalkville was 25-7 last season.
