Hewitt softball goes 2-2 in regionals

TUSCALOOSA — The Hewitt-Trussville softball team posted a 2-2 record in the AHSAA Class 6A North Central Regional qualifying tournament in Tuscaloosa over the weekend, ending the Lady Huskies’ season.

Hewitt-Trussville finishes the 2014 season with a 32-16 record.

Hewitt-Trussville scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Tuscaloosa County 3-2 in the tournament’s first game. The Lady Huskies then fell to Hoover 7-3 and shut out Hueytown 4-0. In the Lady Huskies’ final game of the regional tournament, Vestavia Hills won 6-4 in nine innings.

Hewitt-Trussville was the Class 6A, Area 12 champion this year and was ranked No. 13 in the regular season’s final Class 6A poll.
