TRUSSVILLE — The head of Trussville’s Inspections Department, Dan Sargent, is retiring, it was announced at this week’s Trussville City Council meeting.
Sargent’s retirement is effective June 1.
Leo Russo of Leo Russo Building Company said working with Sargent was a “pleasurable experience.”
“He’s a great loss to the city,” Russo said.
Trussville City Council President Buddy Choat said he “appreciates” the way Sargent handled city business.
“I wish you the best,” Choat said to Sargent at this week’s meeting.
All new builders in Trussville have to set up appointments with Sargent to go over the requirements of the city prior to beginning the building process. All plans must be reviewed before a building permit is issued.
Trussville City Councilman Perry Cook commended Sargent, saying he knows Sargent worked weekends and bought materials out of his own pocket.
“Fantastic,” Choat said.
