HT Wellness Club students make FOCUS promo video
By Gary Lloyd
TRUSSVILLE — Members of the Hewitt-Trussville High School Wellness Club have developed a promotional video for a state program.
The three-minute, 39-second video that was filmed at Hewitt-Trussville High School portrays students dealing with bullying, drinking, HIV, parents fighting, suicide, pregnancy, sexual assault and more.
Near the end of the video, these two messages are shown across the screen: “What would you do if you knew” and “What if there was something you could do.”
The video is part of FOCUS, a state program that promotes school and community partnerships for the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other adolescent risk behaviors. The program is based on a student-led approach and seeks to promote youth involvement in the planning of prevention activities.
Hewitt-Trussville High School students who participated in the video include John Adkins, Jaron Godbolt, Alexis Jordan, Cole Compton, Sidney Powell, Olivia DePew, Cameron McGuffie, Whitney Wilkins, Amanda Hudson, Taylor Eaton, Charmaine Smith and Dakorria Smith.
“They did a really fabulous job and got a true taste of what it’s like to be in the film business,” said Hewitt-Trussville High School nurse and Wellness Club sponsor Dana DePew.
The Wellness Club implements programs that support overall wellness through promoting healthy choices and reducing risky behaviors.
