TRUSSVILLE — A Hewitt-Trussville varsity softball player recently made her college commitment.
Junior Amber Hammonds verbally committed to play at Wallace State Community College.
Hammonds primarily plays center field, but also plays third base for the Lady Huskies.
In the 2014 Shelby County Showdown against some of the top teams in the state, Hammonds went 4-for-9 with two stolen bases.
Hewitt-Trussville finished the 2014 season with a 32-16 record.
Hewitt-Trussville was the Class 6A, Area 12 champion this year and was ranked No. 13 in the regular season’s final Class 6A poll.
