TRUSSVILLE — A Guntersville woman won the 2014 Ms. Senior Trussville Pageant on Friday.
Rebecca Rowe won the pageant, and first runner-up was Marilyon Cleveland from Horton. Second runner-up was Rita Schwarz from Pelham, and Ms. Congeniality was Sherry Buell from Kimberly.
Rowe tap danced to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Cleveland sang “Unchained Melody” and Schwarz played “My Tribute” on the piano. Buell sang a song in tribute to her mother.
The Ms. Senior Trussville Pageant is a preliminary pageant to the Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant. Ladies are judged based on poise, talent, stage presence, their overall philosophy of life and interview.
The Ms. Senior Trussville Pageant was started in 2003. From 2003 until 2012, several Ms. Senior Trussville winners placed in the state competition: two Ms. Congenialities, one first runner-up and two Ms. Senior Alabama who placed in the top 15 and top 10 in Ms. Senior Nationals.
Ms. Senior Alabama, Inc. is an organization that honors women who have reached the “Age of Elegance,” 60 years or older. It’s a non-profit organization designed to enrich the lives of senior women while also allowing them to share their experiences, wisdom and interests with others.
A Pinson woman, Donna Shaw McGuffie, competed in the 2013 Ms. Senior America Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J., last year after winning the Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant.
