TRUSSVILLE — A Pinson man has been charged in the alleged cutting of his wife’s throat during an altercation in the Sam’s Club parking lot in Trussville.
Trussville Police Department Lt. Jeff Bridges said 28-year-old Richard Darrell Umphrey, of Pinson, is charged with second-degree domestic violence.
Umphrey was being transferred to Jefferson County Jail on Thursday. His bond will be set at $30,000.
Bridges said the incident happened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
He said store surveillance video captured the argument and authorities were reviewing it. Bridges said Umphrey fled the scene after the fight, and a lookout bulletin was issued for him, and he was found and arrested later Wednesday night.
The victim received five stitches to her neck after being transported by a passer-by.
