JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Board of Education has approved new Superintendent Craig Pouncey’s contract.
Pouncey’s contract is for four years and pays him a base salary of $228,000.
His first day is July 1.
Pouncey said he is “truly excited” to be the Jefferson County Schools superintendent.
Pouncey replaces Stephen Nowlin, who is now an administrative officer for the remainder of his contract. Bobby Neighbors has been serving as interim superintendent.
Thursday morning was Neighbors’ last board meeting as interim superintendent.
“It’s been a very positive experience for me,” Neighbors said. “I’ve loved every second of it.”
