TRUSSVILLE — Former Alabama State Senate District 17 candidate Jim Roberts has endorsed Shay Shelnutt for the position.
Shelnutt, of Trussville, will face off Tuesday, July 15 with Locust Fork’s Brett King in a runoff for the seat.
Roberts is a longtime business lawyer and former mayor of Morris.
“After campaigning alongside people, you get to know who they are and you can tell a lot about a man from how he treats others,” Roberts said. “Shay is a generous, polite and kind Christian man. He is a very direct, honest person and I am convinced he will be an excellent representative for our community.”
Shelnutt was grateful to have Roberts’ support.
“I am new to campaigning, so every time someone tells me they are voting for me it’s like Christmas morning,” Shelnutt said. “Jim’s support is most humbling because I have tremendous respect for him. He has imparted great wisdom upon me and that is something I will appreciate for the rest of my life.”
