Trussville names Paine Elementary Campus principal

By Gary Lloyd

TRUSSVILLE — Trussville City Schools has named its Paine Elementary Campus principal for the 2015-2016 school year.

Autumn Jeter will be the principal at the campus, which covers Paine Primary and Paine Intermediate schools.

Jeter brings 13 years of educational experience with seven years as a K-5 elementary principal. Her knowledge and expertise as an instructional leader in the pre K-5 environment will provide innovative ideas as three K-5 schools are developed in Trussville, said Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill.

“As we move toward educating Trussville students in three K-5 elementary schools in the fall of 2016, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Autumn Jeter has been selected as one of the three elementary principals,” Neill said. “She is a dynamic leader and a delightful person.”

This school year, Jeter will work with administrative teams at Paine Primary and Paine Intermediate schools to become acquainted with the people and procedures in Trussville.

“Dr. Jeter will prepare to serve as principal of Paine Intermediate School in the fall of 2015, and she will offer stimulating perspectives from her own administrative experiences to help us build capacity and develop our K-5 school configuration for 2016,” Neill said.

Trussville City Schools will go through the 2014-2015 school year with an interim assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Beth Bruno, the Paine Intermediate School principal, will serve in the role for the 2014-2015 school year.

The Trussville City Board of Education on June 2 accepted the resignation of Ammie Akin, who had served in the position.

In her interim role, Bruno will oversee elementary curriculum issues, LEAD Alabama, TEACH Alabama, mentoring programs, professional development, teacher certification, federal programs and elementary textbook adoption.

Bruno will help mentor Jeter, training her to take her place in the fall of 2015, when Bruno retires.

“Dr. Jeter brings a fresh perspective, along with innovative ideas for teaching and improving student learning,” Bruno said. “I look forward to mentoring Dr. Jeter as she begins her new role, and I look forward to learning from her.”
