Palmer will beat DeMarco in U.S. House District 6 runoff

JEFFERSON COUNTY — Gary Palmer will defeat Paul DeMarco in the runoff for the U.S. House District 6 Republican seat.

The Associated Press called the race just after 50 percent of the precincts had reported Tuesday night.

With 50 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Palmer had totaled 17,559 votes, or 62 percent. DeMarco had totaled 10,670 votes, or 38 percent.

DeMarco, after all 219 precincts reported in the June 3 primary election, totaled 30,842 votes, or 33 percent. Palmer totaled 18,627 votes, or 20 percent.
