TRUSSVILLE — Safe Choice Security has ranked the top 15 safest cities in Alabama based on a 2012 FBI Crime Statistics report.
Trussville is ranked as the sixth-safest city in Alabama.
The report, at www.safechoicesecurity.com, states that Trussville is “one of the most livable cities in the United States.”
“The community feel and neighborly atmosphere of the city make it very appealing,” the website states. “With a lower than average cost of living, it is a very affordable place to live and a great choice for families looking for a safer hometown.”
According to the website, Trussville sees 2.1 violent crimes per every 1,000 people. It sees 18.11 property crimes per 1,000 people.
The safest city to call home in Alabama, according to the website, is Helena, which sees 0.64 violent crimes per 1,000 people. Helena also sees 10.19 property crimes per 1,000 people.
Mountain Brook was No. 2, followed by Vestavia Hills, Moody and Pleasant Grove. The remaining nine safest cities, in order, are Alabaster, Hamilton, Daphne, Calera, Madison, Hoover, Rainbow City, Hartselle and Boaz.
