TRUSSVILLE — Despite winning back-to-back road games at Class 7A top 10 schools, Hewitt-Trussville did not crack the top 10 in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.

The Huskies (3-2, 1-2 Class 7A, Region 3) earned nine points toward top 10 consideration, essentially ranking them No. 14 in Class 7A. The top 10, in order, are Hoover, Fairhope, Central-Phenix City, Foley, Prattville, Gadsden City, Oak Mountain, Smiths Station, Bob Jones and Spain Park.
Gadsden City fell from No. 3 to No. 6 after last week’s loss to Hewitt-Trussville. The Huskies take on another top 10 foe in No. 7 Oak Mountain this Friday. In front of Hewitt-Trussville in the “Others receiving votes” category are Murphy, Baker and James Clemens.
Clay-Chalkville (5-0, 2-0 Class 6A, Region 6) is again No. 2 in Class 6A this week, trailing just Spanish Fort. Spanish Fort earned 25 first-place votes, while the Cougars garnered three. Shades Valley, ranked No. 3, earned one first-place vote. The rest of the top 10, in order, are Opelika, Blount, Saraland, Florence, Decatur, Carver-Montgomery and Daphne.
