AUBURN — Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn at his weekly Tuesday press conference was asked about Hewitt-Trussville head coach Josh Floyd, who he coached at Shiloh Christian (Ark.) High School in the 1990s.
Malzahn visited Hewitt-Trussville Stadium on Friday for the game against Hoover.
“Very proud of Josh and not only as a coach but as a person,” Malzahn said Tuesday.
Malzahn talked about Floyd winning various state championships as a coach at Shiloh Christian and wanting a new challenge in Alabama. Malzahn said Floyd is “really good” at coaching.
“He’s off to a very good start,” Malzahn said.
Malzahn also visited Irondale for the Pinson Valley at Shades Valley game Friday.
