JEFFERSON COUNTY — Teams from Trussville and Pinson will compete in the Mid State Youth Football Association playoffs Saturday.
The winners of Saturday’s second round games are scheduled to advance on to the MSYFA championship games at Pinson Valley High School on Saturday, Nov. 15.
Area teams from each of the four weight classes are set to vie for a championship appearance this Saturday at the Trussville Youth Football field and Pleasant Grove Metro Park.
Trussville, ranked No. 2 in the 75-pound weight class, needs a win over No. 3 Leeds to reach next week’s title game, where the winner of Irondale-Hueytown awaits.
In the 95-pound division, top-ranked Pinson will battle No. 5 Gardendale Gray for a championship game place. Pinson is coming off a 44-6 win over Pleasant Grove in the opening round.
Trussville White and Pinson both advanced to the second round of the 115-pound weight class. The two would clash for the hardware if No. 1 Pinson takes care of Irondale and No. 2 Trussville White can get past Gardendale in the quarterfinals.
After hanging 52 points on Gardendale last week, second-ranked Pinson must beat Pleasant Grove on Saturday to move on and challenge the winner of Irondale-Leeds at Willie Adams Stadium.
The 75-pound championship game will be played at 10 a.m., 95-pounders at 11:30 a.m., 115-pounders at 1 p.m. and 135-pounders at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Pinson Valley High School.
