TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville City Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Central Office.
A public work session is at 4:30 p.m.
It’ll be the first meeting without former Board Vice President Danny Garrett, who resigned from his position due to being elected to the Alabama House of Representatives. Nineteen people have applied for the vacancy, but the Trussville City Council hasn’t yet appointed Garrett’s successor.
In July, Trussville City Schools Superintendent Pattie Neill said bids for the construction and renovation of two new community elementary schools will be ready in November.
Neill said at the time that a new timeline shows bid documents will go to contractors in November and be opened 30 days later. The original plan was for bid documents to go to contractors in January 2015. The target date for opening the elementary schools — one in the former high school and middle school on Parkway Drive, and the other in the Magnolia Place area — is the fall of 2016.
According to an advertisement for bids, a mandatory pre-bid conference for the Magnolia Place school will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Central Office. The advertisement states that bids will be opened Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.
According to an advertisement for demolition contractor pre-qualification, demolition contractors wishing to bid on the demolition package for the Cahaba Village Elementary School project should attend a mandatory pre-bid conference Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. at the school site. Bid documents will be issued by Michael Brady, Inc. to qualified bidders. Bids will be received from pre-qualified bidders until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18.
