Losing weight can be a stress in many people’s lives, but it doesn’t have to be. There are many reasons for gaining weight. In order to lose weight, we have to understand why we gain weight. There are many reasons for weight gain, and this time I want to highlight a few of those reasons.
One area that affects weight gain is your liver. The liver has at least 400 different jobs. One of the major functions of the liver is being a detoxifier. The liver is a filter to help cleanse our blood streams from medicines, chemicals and pollutants. The less stress your liver has, the more adequately your body can remove waste, and you can lose weight naturally.
It’s obvious that healthier food choices are important to weight control. Caffeine, sugar, trans fats and inadequate fiber all need to be reduced as much as possible. Trying to eat more protein and vegetables, while trying to minimize carbohydrates and having portion control on the fruits you eat, will drastically help the situation. Then, the nutrients that you are unable to get through good eating should be supplemented.
Stress is another factor. When you have stress, it makes losing weight extremely difficult and gaining weight an ease. During times of stress, many people take in more alcohol, sugar, cigarettes and/or medications. These chemicals can lead to weight gain. Also, most healing happens during sleep, and stress inhibits good sleeping patterns. This all causes a cascade effect, and in turn, weight gain.
Exercise is something that helps with these stress levels and helps fight off those extra pounds. Exercise, by no surprise, is good at adding strength, endorphin production, more removal of waste, burning of calories, better sleep and improves bowel movements. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, but a good exercise program will help turn your body around.
The last, but most important, factor to losing weight naturally is having a well-functioning nervous system. Your body knows innately how to help keep you at a proper weight and keep you functioning properly. Since the nervous system controls and coordinates every function in our bodies, our spines need to be strong and well aligned. When out of alignment, the body can’t deal with weight gain efficiently.
These healthy habits will help you as you prepare for a healthy new year.
