HAMILTON –An Alabama State Trooper was seriously injured when a truck left the road, struck two vehicles and the trooper as he stood outside of his Dodge Charger patrol car, according to a statement from Trooper Johnathan Appling.
The incident happened about three miles east of Hamilton on Interstate 22 at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the statement, the trooper was conducting a traffic stop on a GMC Acadia when a 2014 Peterbilt left the road and collided with the trooper’s patrol car and the Acadia before hitting the trooper.
The trooper was airlifted to UAB with serious injuries. The driver of the Acadia also sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss. The driver of the truck was taken by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center, as well.
No further information is available as Troopers continue to investigate.
