TRUSSVILLE — A Hewitt-Trussville senior catcher has made his college commitment.
Catcher Cyle Moore verbally committed to Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa on Sunday.
Moore played in all 41 games for a Hewitt-Trussville team that posted a 31-10 record in 2014 and reached the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.
Moore led Hewitt-Trussville in batting average (.412), hits (49), home runs (three), runs batted in (40) and game-winning RBIs (seven) during the 2014 season. He scored 15 runs, hit five doubles and notched a triple. His on-base percentage was .553 and he batted .400 with runners in scoring position. Moore stole seven bases.
Defensively, Moore had a .986 fielding percentage and threw out 22 runners trying to steal.
Moore makes the 19th Hewitt-Trussville baseball player to commit/sign to play baseball at the collegiate level since Jeff Mauldin became the head coach after the 2012 season.
Mauldin has led the Huskies to a 65-23 record in his two seasons. He’s 459-136 overall since becoming a varsity head coach in 2000.
